Obituary for Mary Ann Knaub

PEORIA - It is with sadden hearts and loving memory, Mary Ann (Trowbridge) Knaub, 88, of Peoria, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on April 10th at 10:25 p.m. Mary Ann was born on April 27, 1924 in Knox County to Fred and Frances (Slayton) Trowbridge. She married Daniel James Knaub on September 13, 1947 at Scared Heart Church in Peoria. She is survived by her husband Daniel of 65 years; fifteen children, Dennis (Donna) Knaub, Michael (Rhoni) Knaub, Diane (James) Waldron, Richard (Susan) Knaub, Ralph (Patti) Knaub, Barb (Thomas) Kobler, William (Carolyn) Knaub, Mary (Gary) Zimmerman, Paul (Bonnie) Knaub, Donald (Lisa) Knaub, Thomas Knaub, Susan (Mark) Hiatt, Kathy (Greg) Vonachen, Arleen Knaub, and Patrick (Missy) Knaub; thirty-three grandchildren; twelve step-grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Rosemary Trowbridge, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and a sister. Mary Ann attended Maquon High School, Illinois State University, and Bradley University. She graduated in 1947 from Methodist Hospital of Nursing as an R.N. She was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Church, where she was active in the church, school and guild. She served as a Cub Scout Leader, Girl Scout Leader and active in her children’s activities. She enjoyed her family, sports and many hobbies. Always had a smile and a “Hello.” She was a member of Engineer’s Wives Society, Legion of Mary, Catholic Women’s League, Peoria Women’s 18th and 9 Hole Golf League, Madison Ladies and Engineers Wives’ Golf League, and bowled in several Leagues. She and her husband have wintered in Florida since 1992. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Monday, April 15, 2013, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Father Donald Henderson will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Sunday, April 14, 2013, at the church. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7 p.m., Sunday. An additional visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass also at the church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
