Obituary for Mary Ann Heinz

Creve Coeur- Mary Ann Heinz, 85, of Creve Coeur, passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.

Born March 12, 1936 in Peoria to Ernest and Evelyn Glore Young, she married Kermit A. Heinz on January 29, 1955 in Peoria.
He died on July 12, 2017.

She was also preceded in death by 10 siblings; Vernon Young, Shirley Ludolph, Anthony Young, Sharon Hatcher, Althea Rushing, Christine Johnson, Gabriel Langloss, Theresa Young, Martin Young and Charles Young.

Mary Ann is survived by 17 children; Jeffrey Heinz, Rose (Randy) Rugh, Elliot Heinz, Charlene Beeney, Matthew Heinz, Jane (Chris) Gibson, Mark (Nicky) Heinz, Sallie (Matt) Roth, Bruce Heinz, Doug (Lisa) Heinz, Jack (Denise) Heinz, Diane (Jeff Klokkenga) Heinz, Lynne (Shane) Walker, Gayle (Ronnie) Gutierrez, Carol (Shawn) Omer, Nathan Heinz and Merideth Behrens; 49 grandchildren, and numerous great and great great grandchildren; 6 siblings, Edward (Barbara) Young, Audrey Strube, Joseph (Lydia) Young, George (Brenda) Young, Marcie (Don) Kellenberger and Gerald (Lynda) Young.

Mary Ann worked as a Coordinator of Natural Family Planning for the Catholic Social Service for many years.

She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, and was very active in many Catholic Endeavors, including the Peoria Right to Life, started the Pennies for Babies in the diocese, Eucharistic minister and sang in the choir for St. John’s Church. She was active in the PTA, and was awarded the Pere Marquette Award for dedicated service to the Diocese of Peoria.

She loved reading, quilting, and going on camping trips with the family. She was a prayer warrior for her family and prayed the Rosary daily.

A Funeral mass will be on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at 10:30 AM at St. Ann Catholic Church, with Fr. Jeremy Freehill officiating.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 5 until 8 PM at the church, with recitation of the rosary at 8 PM.

Further visitation will be one hour prior to the mass on Thursday at the church.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in West Peoria.

Memorials may be made to St. Ann Catholic Church.
