Obituary for Mary Ann Dwyer
Peoria- Mary Ann Dwyer, age 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, April 9, 2017 at Buehler Home in Peoria, IL.
Mary Ann was born in February 1, 1927 in Wawataso, WI., a daughter of Ethyl (Schnieder) and George Baker. The family moved to Peoria in the early 1930’s.
She graduated from St. Bernard Grade School and then Academy of Our Lady High School in 1945. She married Edward Dwyer at St. Bernard Church on April 15, 1950, he survives. Also surviving are two sons; Rick (Eleanor) Dwyer and Mike Dwyer, both of Peoria, one daughter; Molly (Jim) Connor of Lake Zurich, four grandchildren; Jim (Tifanie), Matt (Kristin), Katie, and Emily, one great-grandchild; Soul, one sister; Kathryn Davis of Peoria, sister-in-law; Barbara Shurtleff, three nephews; Jack (Barb) Davis, David Shurtleff, and Chip Shurtleff, and seven nieces; Patty Rettig, Maureen Wunderlick, Kathryn Davis, Susie Kemnetz, Margaret Kimmel, Cynthia Wilke and Mary Kay McMahon.
Mary Ann was employed at Bradley University as a secretary for Business Manager, Ken Goldin for 45 years. She enjoyed playing bridge and other card games at Buehler Home. She also enjoyed playing the organ and the slots at the Paradise Casino.
Family would like to thank OSF St. Francis Medical Center and Buehler home for the care and kindness shown to Mary Ann.
Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at St. Philomena Catholic Church, with visitation one hour prior. Father David Richardson will officiate. Cremation Rites have been accorded and a private family burial will follow at a later date at Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorials, in Mary Ann’s name, may be made to St. Philomena Building Fund or Bradley University Pat Goldin Scholarship Fund.
