Obituary for Mary Alice Gasperich

PEORIA-Mary Alice Gasperich, 95, of Peoria, passed away at 5:05 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Christian Buehler Memorial Home. She was born on June 22, 1915, in Wyoming, IL to John I. and Sophia Coyle Colgan. She married Joseph Charles Gasperich on December 30, 1950, in Peoria. He passed away on July 13, 1995 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John Emmanuel Colgan and Peter James Colgan; and one sister, Sister Maurita Colgan, O.P. Mary is survived by one brother, Joseph P. (Majella) Colgan of Wyoming, IL; many nieces and nephews; and good friends, Jerry and Cheri Burckhartzmeyer of Peoria. She was a 1933 graduate of Wyoming High School. Mary first worked as a Secretary at Tyerrell Studebaker Motor Company in Peoria and later she was a secretary for 20 years at Kenneth Hamm State Farm Insurance Agency, retiring in 1978. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Catholic Women’s League, Daughters of Isabella, American Cancer Golf Association and St. Vincent de Paul Guild. Mary and Joseph loved ballroom dancing and were members of the Caper Club and Creve Coeur Club. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Resurrection Mausoleum Chapel with Msgr. Jason Gray officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the Mass at the mausoleum. Entombment in the mausoleum will follow the Mass. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul School Endowment Fund or St. Dominic Villa in Wisconsin. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to www.wrightandsalmon.com
