Obituary for Marvin O. Szabados
Peoria- Marvin O. Szabados, 80, of Peoria, passed away peacefully Saturday, February, 25, 2017 at Richard L. Owens Hospice
Marv was born November 7, 1936, in Bloomington IL to Fred and Leona Szabados. Surviving is the love of his life, Judith Ann (Hajnal) Szabados
and their three children Debbie (Bill) Pierce of Peoria, Diane Heinz of Rochester MN, Dan (Leigh Ann) of Springfield IL, nine grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Fred Szabados, Delverna Woolard, and Marilyn Hineman.
Marv worked at CAT, East Peoria for 33 years retiring in 1999. Marv was a member of the KC 4333, 55 Club, and Elks #20. Marv also was a community volunteer with countless hours of service.
Family meant everything to Marv. He would always say his hobby was his grandchildren. He was a very proud grandpa/Grumpy always attending his grandchildren’s extracurricular activities.
His favorite pastime was sitting on his back porch in West Peoria listening to the Cardinal game, and waving at everyone who would go by. Marv was an avid, diehard Cardinal baseball fan who had the opportunity to attend Cardinal Baseball Fantasy Camps batting against Hall of Famer, Bob Gibson and his mad Hungarian friend, Al Hrobsky.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. John Shallot and his staff for the wonderful care he was given throughout the years. We also want to say thank you to Dr. Knost and the caring staff at Richard Owens Hospice.
Visitation will be 5:00 -7:00 PM, Thursday, March 2nd, 2017 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM, Friday March 3rd, 2017 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Peoria, IL., with a half hour prior visitation. Father Don Roszkowski will officiate. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Mausoleum.
In Lieu of flowers the family would like to suggest memorials in Marv’s name be sent to Brighter Tomorrows, 12 Elton Hills Dr. NW, Rochester MN 55901 or Make- A- Wish Foundation America 4742 N. 24th Street Suite 400 Phoenix, AZ 85016.
