Obituary for Marlene Ann Mercer

Peoria- Marlene Ann Mercer, of Peoria, passed away at 5:38 PM on Friday, September 30, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born September 15, 1935 in Galesburg, IL, she was a daughter to Raymond and Joyce Pendergast Noonan. On July 12, 1958, Marlene married Richard E. Mercer in Biloxi, Miss. She was a graduate with the class of 1956 from the St. Francis School of Nursing and later on graduated with the class of 1986 from The College of St. Francis in Joliet. Marlene Spent her medical career joyfully working a OSF St. Francis Medical Center for 35 years. She was a member of Cursillo in Christianity. Marlene was Secretary of the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Holy Family Church at the time of her illness. She loved playing bridge, tennis, and spending time with her family. Marlene was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her husband Richard of Peoria; three children; David (Kim) Mercer of Denver, Colo., Diane (David) Kloos of Evergreen, Colo., and John (Tammy) Mercer of Altoona, Pa.; six grandchildren, Emily Mercer (Alex) of Brooklyn, N.Y., Margaret Mercer of Milwaukee, Wis., Patrick Mercer of Columbia, Mo., Alexandra Kloos of Boston, Mass., Daniel Kloos of Evergreen, Colo., and Abby Kloos of Evergreen, Colo.; five brothers, Jerry (Dawn) Noonan of Yuba City, Calif., Don (Mary) Noonan of Crystal Lake, Ill., John (Ruth) Noonan of Bertrand, Mo., Dean Noonan (Laine) of Fall River, Wis., and Tom Noonan, of Red Bluff, Calif.; two sisters, Martha Mercer (Bill) of Waunakee, Wis., and Peggy (Gary) Pullen of Dunlap, Ill.; one brother-in-law, Bill George of Tyler, Tex.; and one sister-in-law, Diane Noonan of West Dundee, Ill.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Marjorie Noonan George, and two brothers, Robert J. and James M. Noonan.

A Memorial Mass will take place on Wednesday, October 05, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic. Franciscan Friars will officiate. Visitation will occur on Tuesday, October 04, 2016 between the hours of 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM at Wright and Salmon Mortuary. An additional visitation will take place 30 minutes prior to mass on Wednesday. Burial will be at a later date in Resurrection Cemetery.

Memorials in Marlene’s memory may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society at Holy Family Church or Holy Family Church.
