Obituary for Marjorie "Margie" Metts
Peoria- Marjorie “Margie” Metts, age 87, of Peoria, passed away at 9:58 PM on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Lutheran Hillside Village.
Born February 2, 1929 in Pekin, IL, she was a daughter to Joseph P. and Rose (Strutz) Schueler. On October 2, 1954 she married the love of her life Warren V. Metts at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Margie was a homemaker devoting most of her life to her family. She loved baking and was an amazing cook. Margie enjoyed going out and dancing with her husband at the Hub when they could. A life long Chicago Cubs Fan, Margie will always be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who will be dearly missed.
Survivors include two sons, James W. (Debra) Metts of Peoria, and Bob J. (Lynn) Metts of St. Charles, IL; two grandchildren, T.J. and Lauren Metts of St. Charles, IL; one sister, Bettye (Don) Ellinghausen of Naperville, IL; and one sister-in-law, Diane Schueler of Pekin.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother, and one sister.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 03, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Philomena Catholic Church. Father David Richardson will officiate. Visitation will be two hours prior to Mass. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorials in Margie’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Philomena Catholic Church.
