Obituary for Marjorie "Marge" Ann O'Brien
PEORIA – Marjorie “Marge” Ann O’Brien, 87, of Peoria, IL passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at 12:26 p.m. (EST) in Naples, FL, surrounded by her loving family.

Born October 6, 1930, in Ottawa, IL to John P. and Catherine (Nagle) Dekreon, she married Joseph E. O’Brien on June 19, 1954 in Ottawa. They were happily married for 63 years. She was preceded in death by a sister Jeanne McNamara and brother Robert Dekreon, a son John “Jack” O’Brien and a great-grandchild Brady Koch.

Marge is survived by her husband Joe; two sons, Joseph (Becky) O’Brien of Peoria and Michael (Sara) O’Brien of Peoria; three daughters, Mary (Jim) Flanagan of Nashville, Sue (Dave) Young of Peoria, and Ann (Terry) Cole of Peoria; 14 grandchildren, Cassie, Joe, Jenny and Jim O’Brien; Molly Koch and Laura Owens; John Young and Justine McDonald; Bob, Megan and Kelly O’Brien; Bill, T.J. and Stephanie Cole; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Above all, Marge will be remembered most for her devotion to her faith and her family. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Peoria.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and everyone’s number one fan. Over the years Marge could constantly be found front row in the stands of a child or grandchild’s sporting event. Her happiest times were surrounded by her family whether it was just a brief visit after work, phone call with a grandchild, or celebrating birthdays, holidays, and her loved one’s big moments.
In May 1975 Marge and her husband Joe co-founded O’Brien Steel Service in Peoria. She served as the company’s first secretary and treasurer, helping provide a solid foundation for her husband and sons to continue to grow the business over the coming years.

Marge was known for her generosity, kindness and devotion to others. Always a loving and loyal friend, she will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Marge’s family would like to thank her nurses and caregivers for their devoted care and kindness over the past few years.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Funeral Mass will be at St. Vincent de Paul on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at 10 a.m., with Fr. James Pallardy officiating. Further visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass on Wednesday. Burial will be in Resurrection Mausoleum & Cemetery.
