Obituary for Marilyn R. Kipfer

PEORIA - Marilyn R. Kipfer, 84, of Peoria passed away at 4:40 a.m. Monday, Mar. 9, 2015, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home. Marilyn was born on Mar. 18, 1930, in Peoria to the late Herman W. and Audrey B. (Calhoun) Maple. She married Robert J. Kipfer on May 5, 1948, in Chicago. He preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1985, in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by one son, Daniel “Tucker.” She is survived by four daughters, Susan (Gary) Davis of Peoria, Colleen (Larry) Kellerman of Washington, Ill., Ellen (Robert) Johann of Peoria, and Maureen (Gregg) Greenway of Ottawa; six sons, Steve (Cindy) Kipfer of Peoria, Mike (Maureen) Kipfer of Oswego, Tim Kipfer of Pekin, Tom Kipfer of East Peoria, Father David Kipfer of Ottawa, and Chris Kipfer of Peoria; 19 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. The greatest joys of Marilyn’s life were her faith, her friends, and especially her family. She lived her life with kindness, generosity, and an indomitable spirit, which will be passed on by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren for generations. A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Mar. 13, 2015, at St. Philomena Catholic Church. Father David Kipfer will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Mar. 12, 2015, at Wright & Salmon Mortuary, with recitation of the Rosary at 6:45 p.m. An additional visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, West Peoria. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Philomena Tuition Assistance fund or OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
