Obituaries
Marilyn Anita Sullivan, 74, of Bartonville, Illinois, entered into eternal rest Thursday, January 6, 2022.
Marilyn was born on January 27, 1947 in Peoria, Illinois, daughter of LaNora and Albert Atkinson. She married George W. Sullivan on November 5, 1966 at St. John’s Catholic church in Peoria, and together they cherished 55 years.
She is survived by her husband George, six children: Christina (Andy) Duke of Bartonville, IL, Jeanette (David) Bradshaw of Peoria, IL, Carolyn (Marc) Bozarth of Avon, IN, Debra (John) Willard of Peoria, IL, Brian (Julia) Sullivan of Linthicum Heights, MD, and Georgiann (Greg) Weydert of Marquette Heights, IL; eleven grandchildren: Christy (Jared) Rogers of Peoria, IL, David Jason (Miranda) Bradshaw of Creve Couer, IL, Joshua (Sarah) Bozarth of Avon, IN, Meghan (Ryan) Sparks of Avon, IN, Charles Carey of Peoria, IL, Jaxson Carey of Peoria, IL, Liam Sullivan of Linthicum Heights, MD, Rory Sullivan of Linthicum Heights, MD, Michael Weydert of Marquette Heights, IL, Brenna Weydert of Marquette Heights, IL, Alexandria Weydert of Marquette Heights, IL, and six great grandchildren: Khalia Mihu-Sparks, Rylee Sparks, Brooke Sparks, Logan Sparks, and Alexandra Bozarth; sisters Shirley Quick of Peoria, IL and Patricia Driscoll of Peoria, IL; sister-in-law Sandi Atkinson of Peoria, IL. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Louis, Richard, and Paul; one sister Kathleen McHugh; three brother- in-laws: Robert Quick, Edward Driscoll, and John McHugh; two sisters-in-law: Hazel Atkinson and Catherine Atkinson, and great granddaughter Grace Bozarth.
She graduated from Manual High School in Peoria, IL. She attended St Francis School of Nursing in Peoria, IL. She was a homemaker and babysat for teachers at Monroe Grade School.
She enjoyed making birthday cakes for her children. She also enjoyed reading, crafting, macramé, listening to Michael Ball, Sudoku, crossword puzzles, and genealogy. She had a large garden and would can and process the fruits and vegetables for her family and friends.
She especially enjoyed going to her children and grandchildren’s activities. She watched them play sports, band, choir, and attended plays. She was a mom to so many kids in the neighborhood and to her kids’friends.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She was deeply loved and will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life will be held on April 9, 2022 at St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 9:30 – 10:30 am prior to Mass at 10:30 am. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in West Peoria at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials in Marilyn’s memory may be made to charity of choice.
