Obituary for Marilyn A. Shaffer
Peoria- Marilyn A. Shaffer, 86, of Peoria, passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
Marilyn was born on December 4, 1934 in Sterling, IL, a daughter of Hubert and Helen (Hambloek) Schauff. She married William Shaffer on May 4, 1957 in Tampico, IL. He survives. Also surviving are their children, Denise Foster of Peoria, Jeff Shaffer of San Antonio, TX, and Elizabeth Shaffer of Peoria, sister, Joyce (Roger) Anderson of Glastonbury, CT, as well as five grandchildren, Andrew and Cody Fritz and Austin, Evan and Katelyn Shaffer and sister-in-law Darlene Schauff.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Gene.
Marilyn graduated from OSF School of Nursing and was a Registered Nurse for over 43 years at OSF St. Francis. She also volunteered at Illinois Cancer Care. She was great cook and loved being a grandmother.
Marilyn spent her entire life caring for others. She exemplified empathy and compassion not only in her patients, but she cared for everyone she came into contact with.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on May 15, 2021 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with a one hour prior visitation. Cremation Rites have been accorded and entombment of ashes will follow services at Resurrection Mausoleum.
Memorials may be made to Sophia’s Kitchen in Peoria.
