Obituary for Marianne J Russel
Marianne J. Russel, 89, of Peoria, passed away at 4:20 a.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at UnityPoint Health-Pekin.
She was born June 28, 1933 in Springfield to Charles Burton and Anna (Davis) Jones.
Surviving are one son, William Anthony (Laurie) Bibo, Jr. of Madison, Wisconsin; one daughter, Kristine Anne (Kevin) Nelson of Peoria; grandchildren, Melinda (Justin) Paglini, Shaun (Hannah) Bibo, Tom (Stephanie) Nelson, Sam Nelson, Jeffrey (Tiffany) Watts; and great-grandchildren, Nolan, Sonny, Oliver, Arden, Khaliq, Gunner, and Shelby.
Faith, family and friends were Marianne’s greatest treasures. She loved her many dogs over the years and was passionate about gardening, especially growing purple flowers.
In 1963, Marianne opened Bibo Gallerie, which she owned and operated for 48 years. She was a registered Interior Designer, working well into her 80’s. She was very passionate about art and her work, and loved mentoring new artists.
She was happy and exuberant in her personality and style and was always ready with a story. She lived life fully and colorfully as demonstrated by her signature laughter and fondness for the color purple.
She had served as Chairman of the Peoria Art Guild Art Fair and hosted Channel 47 Auction Art segments, both for several years. She was involved with art exhibits at Lakeview Center early in her career. Marianne was acknowledged in a Proclamation by Mayor Jim Ardis in March 2012 for her extraordinary design capabilities, volunteering her talents and services to the City of Peoria and other charitable organizations and for being a part of the Rediscovering City Hall Committee.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday February 4, 2023 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Rev. Stephen Barch will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date.
Memorials may be given to the family to offset expenses.
