Obituary for Marian R. Meyer

PEORIA Marian R. Meyer, 80, of Peoria passed away at 11:25 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
Marian was born on Nov. 20, 1934, in Peoria to the late Frank and Bertha (Apfel) Menke. She married Wayne Meyer on Apr. 7, 1956, in Peoria. He survives.
She is also survived by four daughters, Cindy (Phil) Bruckner of Bozeman, Mont., Janet (Jerry) Abramson of Nashua, N.H., Kathy (Bill) Wallace of Peoria, and Diane (Rusty) Russell of Edwards; 10 grandchildren, Daniel and Matthew Warbritton, Jennifer and Jonathan (Ashli) Coughlon, Jessica and Jacob Abramson, and Ryan (Elisha), Toshia, Robert, and Joshua Bruckner; one great-grandchild, Malachi; and one brother, Jerome Menke.
Marian graduated from Academy of Our Lady and St. Francis School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at St. Francis Hospital, taking time off to raise their four daughters. She later retired from Caterpillar as an occupational health nurse.
She was an active parishioner at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church for almost 50 years and was devoted to the Tuesday Prayer Group.
Marian loved gardening and was an excellent seamstress. Most of all she loved being with her grandchildren, playing countless games and spending hours creating handmade items for them.
A funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Father Dustin Schultz will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2015, also at the church, with recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. An additional visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum.
Memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
