Obituary for Margaret "Peggy" M. Grant

CHICAGO – Margaret M. “Peggy” Grant, 68, of Chicago, formerly of Peoria, passed away at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 21, 2013, at her residence. Peggy was born on September 2, 1945, in Peoria to George Lewis “Lou” and Elizabeth C. (Purcell) Grant. They preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her nephew, Beau Grant. She is survived by her siblings, Patti (Joe) Hanley, Bill (Candy) Grant, Lewis (Tricia) Grant, Bob (Dorothy) Grant, Mary Elizabeth Grant, and Jim (Andrea) Grant all of Peoria. She was the loving and caring aunt of nineteen nieces and nephews; and twenty-nine great-nieces and nephews who also survive. Peggy was a graduate of Academy of Our Lady and SIU at Carbondale. She worked as the purchasing manager for the National Safety Council in Chicago. She was a member of the Chicago Historical Society. She loved the arts, the symphony, and all that Chicago had to offer. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Peggy’s friends and caregivers in Chicago for the love and care they gave to her during her courageous battle with cancer. A memorial Mass will be at 11:30 a.m., Friday, October 4, 2013, at St. Philomena Catholic Church. Rev. David Richardson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the Church. Cremation rites have been accorded, and burial of cremains will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery at a later date. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
