Obituary for Margaret "Peggy" Levan
Peoria- Margaret A. “Peggy” Levan, 75, of Peoria, died on Saturday, December 24, 2016 at 6:15 p.p. at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.
Born May 28, 1941 in Chicago to James F. and Hannah McGinley Finnegan, she married James P. Levan, who died in 1984. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by one daughter, Colleen (James) Cooke of Ft. Worth, TX; four sons, Michael Levan of Peoria, William (Ruth) Levan of Peoria, Martin Levan of Peoria, and Robert (Laura) Vinzant of Lomita, CA; one sister, Sally (Larry) Dossett of Chicago; and thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A special mention for Brian "Bones" Jones, Theresa Behmyer Kirkpatrick and Byron Kensolving, who she considered her children.
Peggy was a file clerk at OSF St. Francis for over 30 years.
She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church.
Peggy was proud of her Irish heritage, and never let you forget she was Irish. She attended many Irish functions in Peoria and Chicago. She instilled this Irish pride in her children and grandchildren. Peggy never met a stranger.
A Memorial Mass will be Saturday, 10 a.m., December 31, 2016, at her church, with Msgr. Stanley Deptula as Celebrant of the mass. Visitation will be on Friday, December 30, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Further visitation will be on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the mass at the church.
Cremation rites will be accorded and burial of cremains will be in All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, Ill.
