Obituary for Margaret Peg Buel
PEORIA - Margaret M (Peg) Buel, 76, of Peoria, IL, passed away at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at Carillon Assisted Living Garden Place in North Carolina.
She was born on August 3, 1940, in Peoria, IL, to Vincent and Rose (Ohlemiller) Donovan. She graduated from Academy of our Lady in 1958. Peg married Roy E. Buel on May 21, 1960, in Peoria. He passed away on July 20, 1982.
Surviving are her children, Teri (Randy) Nelson of Fuquay Varina, NC, Angie (Chris) Connor of Dunlap, IL, and Chris (Karla) Buel of Greenfield, WI; granddaughters, Abby (Dave) Christmann, Caity Connor, Molly Nelson, and Sophie Buel; grandson, Justin Nelson. Also surviving are three brothers Michael (Nancy) Donovan, James (Joyce) Donovan and Timothy (Sharon) Donovan. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters Helen Donovan and Joan Crank.
Peg was a member of Holy Family Church, the Women’s Guild, and the Mary and Martha Society. Professionally, she was a merchandise buyer at Murray’s downtown Peoria until they closed. Peg then worked for the Peoria County Sheriff’s Department and retired after more than 20 years of service.
Peg loved to bake and was known for her holiday treats as well as her cakes. She will be remembered for her kindness, love of family and a wonderful sense of humor. Her contagious smile and laugh will be missed.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 09, 2016 between the hours of 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church with an additional visitation being held 30 minutes prior to mass. Franciscan Friars will officiate and burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Memorials in Margaret’s memory may be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association.
