Obituary for Margaret E. Fox

Margaret E. Fox, 94, of Peoria, died at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2011, at Methodist Medical Center. Born August 23, 1916 in Broadlands, Il. to John and Linda Weber Clementz, she married Clifford Fox on August 28, 1940 at St. Boniface Church in Peoria. He survives, along with two daughters, Denise (Dan) Counsil of Edwards, Lynda (Pat) Friede of Brimfield, Four grandchildren, Denise and Dan’s children: Jeff (Eva) Counsil of Peoria, Debbie Counsil of Racine, WI, and Lynda and Pat’s children: Jennifer (Gary) Shadid of Peoria, and Robin (John) Schaffer of Metamora. Four great grandchildren, Nathan Counsil, Andrew Schaffer, Elizabeth Schaffer, and Sarah Schaffer also survive. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Margaret was a 1934 graduate of Manual High School, and worked at S.S. Kresge from 1934 to 1941. She was also a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. After Clifford joined the military in 1943, they lived briefly in Rhode Island prior to his relocation to Gulfport, MS, where he was soon deployed as a Naval Seabee to the South Pacific. After WWII, they started their family and she developed her interests in sewing, cooking, gardening, and keeping an impeccable household. As their family grew, they spent family time boating on the Illinois River, and Lake Hamilton near Hot Springs, AR. She especially enjoyed the summer trips to Arkansas with the daughters and their spouses and grandchildren. Later in life, they enjoyed ballroom dancing at the Hub, and traveling the United States and Canada by car. Margaret and Cliff were inseparable for more than 70 years…joined together by their love for each other and their family. A Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church, with Franciscan Friars and Fr. Joseph Dondanville officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Wright & Salmon Mortuary, with recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. Further visitation will be one hour prior to the mass on Wednesday. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Research Association, 606 W.
