Obituary for Margaret C. Roth

DENVER - Margaret C. (Sheky) Roth, 92, of Denver, formerly of Peoria, Ill., passed away on Monday, May 25, 2015, at the home of her daughter, Peggy Tynan, in Denver.
Margaret was born in Ware, Iowa, on Sept. 15, 1922. She married William B. Roth on Oct. 27, 1962. He preceded her in death on July 18, 2003, in Peoria.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Shekleton of Arlington Heights, Ill., and Dr. Thomas Shekleton of Peoria; and one grandchild, Timothy Tynan.
She is survived by her 10 children, Theresa Zusag of Elmhurst, Ill., Sharon (Robert) Hoy of Bloomington, Karen (David) Scott of St. Charles, Ill., Merri (Mark) Zellmer of Creve Coeur, Mo., Lora (John) Valentine of Huntsville, Ala., William (Debi) Roth of St. Charles, Ill., Robert Roth of Tampa, Fla., Joseph Roth of Elmhurst, Ill., Peggy (Matt) Tynan of Denver, Matt (Mary) Roth of Centennial, Colo.; 25 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Margaret graduated from the Academy of Our Lady in Peoria, Ill., and later earned a degree in microbiology from the University of Illinois and a Masters degree in chemistry from Bradley University in Peoria. Margaret worked for the U.S.D.A Research Laboratory in Peoria for 15 years prior to her marriage. After raising her children, she worked for allergist Dr. Robert Stine as a laboratory technician for 15 years.
She was a member of the Ladies of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Peoria.
She will be fondly remembered for her grace and good humor, her love for her family, and her appreciation for all the blessings in her life.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Msgr. Mark Merdian, Margarets nephew, will officiate. A visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2015, at Wright Salmon Mortuary in Peoria, followed by recitation of the Rosary at 8 p.m. An additional visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria.
Memorials may be made to Holy Family Church or the Immune Deficiency Foundation in Towson, Md.
