Obituary for Margaret C. Nauman

KICKAPOO-Margaret C. Nauman, 94, of Kickapoo, passed away at 2:28 a.m. on Monday, March 1, 2010, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria. Margaret was born on March 18, 1915, in Kickapoo Township to Charles and Cecilia Loescher Stenger. She married Valentine “Val” Nauman on June 6, 1934 in Kickapoo. He passed away on January 8, 1983 in Iowa City, IA. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Joseph Nauman and Robert Nauman; two sisters, Rosemary Duley and Dorothy Cluskey. She is survived by one son, Donald (Diane) Nauman of Bartonville; three daughters, Mary Jean (Stuart) McKneight of Pekin, Judy (David) Deaver of Muscatine, IA and Rita (Ralph) Durr of Glasford; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great great-grandson; five step grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; four step great great-grandchildren; five brothers, Donald (Eva) Stenger of Kickapoo, Charles Stenger of Peoria, Raymond (Mary) Stenger of Kickapoo, Eugene (Helen) Stenger of Chicago and Andrew (Ollie) Stenger of Kickapoo; three sisters, Cecilia Guth of Metamora, Mary Louise Stenger of Milwaukee, WI and Sister Jean Francis Stenger of Peoria. Margaret completed the 8th grade and then went to work to help support her family. She worked for Frye’s Turkey Farm near Kickapoo for 40 years, as well as Hiram Walker’s for 32 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Altar & Rosary Society, St. Mary’s Quilters and Kickapoo Sportsman Club. She used to enjoy gardening and sewing clothes when she was younger. Margaret currently enjoyed playing pinochle and was active in her church and card clubs. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kickapoo where a Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 4, 2010 with Rev. Joseph Dondanville officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday at St. Mary’s Parish Hall in Kickapoo with recitation of the Rosary at 3:15 p.m. Additional visitation will be 30 minutes before the Mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Kickapoo. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
