Obituary for Marcella "Sally" Coyle
Marcella “Sally” Ann Coyle, age 86, died peacefully at 2:28 AM on Thursday, August 3, 2017.
Born August 23, 1930 in Pekin to William & Wilhelmina Meyer. She was married to Philip Coyle for 50 years (Sept. 5, 1953).
She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, Rose Anne, one great-granddaughter and one sister, Lorraine.
She is survived by 9 children, 23 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; 4 sisters and 6 brothers. Her children: Bill (Mary Kay) Johnsburg; Larry of McHenry; Debbie Albanito (Darrell) Peoria; Sean (Sally) Peoria, Colleen Waltrip (Roy) Normal, Sharon Kunysz (Bill) Plainfield; twins: Kevin (Stephanie) Charolotte NC and Sr. M. Elena (Karen) of Alton; and Dan (Ingrid) Goodyear AZ.
When Sally was a recent graduate of St. Francis College of Nurses she served during the polio epidemic, assisted with the Red Cross and worked at St. Francis, Proctor and Bueller Homes before retiring. Mom used her faith and nursing skills to minister to family, friends and neighbors.
Dad surprised his country-girl with a membership to Timberlake Country Club which became a second home to the Coyle Clan where we camped, swam, fished, golfed and even celebrated several weddings.
She was an active member in her community and at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church serving as president of the Women’s Club, starting a community garden, and bringing holy communion to the homebound. Mom and dad devoted many hours of love and talent to the famous St. Bernard Bazaar Chicken Noodle Dinners.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2017 between the hours of 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. A recitation of the rosary will take place at 6:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Bernard’s Church, Peoria with the Rev. James Pallardy officiating. An additional visitation will be held one hour prior to mass at the church. Burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in West Peoria.
