MACKINAW - Mandy Jo Stephenson, 56, of Mackinaw passed away at 12:58 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Advocate Bromen Hospital in Bloomington.
Mandy was born on Dec. 7, 1959, in Peoria, the daughter of Gene and Farlene (Green) Clayton.
Surviving are her husband, Bob Stephenson of Mackinaw; her daughters, Marie (Jacob and granddog, Phineas) and Heidi and Holly, who are still at home; brothers, Paul (Patty) Clayton and Peter (Beth) Clayton; brother-in-law, Dan (Shirley) Power; sisters-in-law, Peggy (Ike) Liker, Michelene (Dennis) Koch, Melody Hodgson, Cathy (Michael) Wiemer, and Sue (Gary) Eckhoff; and a horde of nieces and nephews.
Mandy attended Richwoods High School in Peoria, graduating in 1978. She then attended University of Illinois, graduating with a degree in Economics. She worked locally at Ameren CILCO and lastly at Advocate Eureka Hospital for over a decade.
Her selfless and giving nature will be dearly missed. Mandy consistently put her family and friends before her own needs. She had a bright personality, a calming presence, and was a support to all who needed her.
A memorial service will be at noon, Thursday, March 31, 2016, at First United Methodist Church in Peoria. Pastor John King and Rev. Carolyn Carnes will officiate. A visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016 also at First United Methodist Church. An additional visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Penguin Project Foundation for their summer camp fund (penguinproject.org).
