Obituary for Lucy Monari

PEORIA-Lucy “Lou” Monari, 84 of Buehler Memorial Home in Peoria, passed away there at 10:40 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2007. She was born on January 29, 1923 in Waterbury, Connecticut to Michael and Mary Miele Miele. She married Jerry J. Monari on June 10, 1946 in Waterbury, Connecticut. He passed away on December 31, 1999 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by one sister. She is survived by two daughters, Sue (Harold) Powley and Betty (Tim) Anderson both of Peoria; five grandchildren, Tonya (Bill) Talbert, Aaron (Niki) Anderson, Trisha (Mark) Sanchez, Justin Anderson and Jeremy Anderson; eight great-grandchildren and one sister, Betty (Nick) Monico of Waterbury, Connecticut. She was a data entry processor for Foster & Gallagher, Inc. for many years. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Heights, Wabco Retirees and a volunteer at Proctor Hospital. Lou loved to travel, especially with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was devoted to her family, and held a place of honor in each of their hearts. It didn't matter what the occasion, she simply knew how to celebrate life. Lou touched many people over the years. She was kind and generous, always making even her acquaintances feel at home and comfortable in her presence. Her patience in any situation was a gift, and she never lost her ability to take everything in stride and see the silver lining. Lou's gentle nature, her belief that friendships were essential to a life well-lived, and her knack for making those around her feel necessary will truly be missed. . A Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Thomas Church with Rev. Tom Taylor officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with recitation of the rosary at 3:45 p.m. Additional visitation will be 30 minutes before the mass at the church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Church or American Cancer Society for Pancreatic Cancer. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to
