Obituary for Louis E. Fahel
West Peoria- Louis E. Fahel, age 89, of West Peoria, passed away at 3:05 AM, Wednesday, February 22, 2017, in West Peoria, IL.
Born September 12, 1927 in Chicago, IL., a son of Abraham and Lila (Raya) Fahel. Louis married Joyce Tremper in Peoria, IL., on November 15, 1958. She passed away January 16, 1997. He married Nova Koopman on December 12, 1998, in Peoria, she survives. Also surviving Louis are two children; Matthew (Margaret) Fahel of Peoria and Lyla Fahel of Houston, TX, one step-daughter; Gayle (Steve) Nunis of Chillicothe, two grandchildren; Jordan and Kylie, three adoptive grandchildren; Adrian, Michael, and Chase, three step-grandchildren; Jeff, Cody, and Dawn, one step-great-grandchild, Abbey and one sister, Virginia Fahel of West Peoria.
Louis was an active member in the Peoria community. He loved to golf, was an avid bowler and a very good pool player. He was a proud member of the Peoria Lebanese Community, a devoted basketball coach at St. Joe’s and St. Mark’s Catholic Grade Schools, and outstanding manager of various local Peoria softball teams. Louis was a big St. Louis Cardinal fan and Bradley Basketball fan. Louis worked at the Hiram Walker & Sons Peoria Distillery for 34 years before retiring in 1981. He was a long-time parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, where his services will be held.
Louis was preceded in death by three brothers; Joe, Al, and John Fahel, and an infant grandson, Joseph.
Visitation will be 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM, Friday, March 3, 2017 at Sacred Heart Church. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM, at the church, with Father James Pankiewicz officiating. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
