Obituary for Lorraine E. Jackson
East Peoria-Lorraine E. Jackson, 79, passed away at 6:10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 4th at her home. She was born February 12, 1932, in Peoria to Joseph and Regina (Hageman) Groeper. She married Robert E. Jackson on May 5, 1951, in Peoria, he passed away April 23, 1999. She was preceded in death by one son, Stephen J. Jackson, one son-in-law, James L Becker, one sister, Jeannett (Groeper) Grawey, two brothers, Cletus and Roland Groeper, and one sister-in-law, Margaret Groeper. Surviving are her children, Chris Becker and Colleen (Mike) Keough, both of Morton, Robert A. Jackson of East Peoria, and Joseph E.(Shirley) Jackson of Milton, Pennsylvania. Also surviving are her grandchildren Sean Becker, and Courtney and Kelsey Keough, step grandchildren John (Amee) Badman, George (Leia) Badman, and Christopher (Missy) Badman. Also surviving one sister Bernadine (Groeper) Dooley, a sister-in-law Martha Groeper and a brother-in-law Leo Grawey all of Peoria. Also surviving are one brother Kenneth (Clara) Groeper, and a sister-in-law, Agnes Groeper, from Chicago, as well as nine step great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and wonderful friends. Lorraine retired in 2000 after working 37 years from Caterpillar, Inc with most of her career at the Morton facility. Lorraine was a member of the Caterpillar retirees club, where she served as a past officer, The Peoria Ostomy Club, which she was a colon cancer survivor participant for over 24 years. She was also a member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church in East Peoria where she was in the Ladies Guild and served as a Eucharistic Minister. Lorraine enjoyed social activities with all of her many friends. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept., 9, 2011 at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in East Peoria with Rev. James Kruse officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7p.m., Thursday at Wright and Salmon Mortuary in Peoria, with a rosary at 6:45 p.m. Additional visitation will be 30 minutes before the Mass at the church. Burial will be in Fon Du Lac Cemetery in East Peoria. Memorials may be made to The United Ostomy Association, 4234 North Knoxville Avenue, Peoria, IL 61614, or to St. Monica’s Church, 303 Campanile Dr, East Peoria, Ill. 61611.
