Obituary for LeRoy "Fred" Poepsel
PEORIA~ Leroy “Fred” Poepsel, 77, of Peoria, passed away at 4:24 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2022 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born December 20, 1944 in Peoria to Alfred D. and Anna Marie (Hellmann) Poepsel, he married Sally Kennelly on July 14, 1973 in Peoria. She passed away January 27, 2013 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Surviving are one daughter, Kelly Poepsel of Peoria; one son, Richard (Shera) Poepsel of Glasford; two grandchildren, Erin Flynn and Izabelle Brickner; and one sister, Margie Housted of Illinois.
He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria. He cherished time spent with his granddaughters. He also enjoyed playing golf, working crossword puzzles, and watching the Chicago Bears.
Fred served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves.
He worked as a machine repairman for Caterpillar Tractor Company, retiring in 1996 after 31 years of service.
Cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no services. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
