Obituary for Leonard F. Kelton
PEORIA HEIGHTS – Leonard F. Kelton, Sr., 90, of Peoria Heights passed away at 6:35 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2016, at his residence.
Leonard was born on March 4, 1926, In Murfreesboro, Tenn., to the late Foster F. and Mamie E. (Styles) Kelton. He married Betty A. Mitchell on July 13, 1951, in Peoria. She survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Peggy (James) Bradshaw of Peoria and Kelly (Traig) Zeigler of Peoria Heights; one son, James (Becky) Kelton of Peoria Heights; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Patti Kelton of Peoria; one brother, Gene Kelton; one sister, Bobbie Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Leonard F. Kelton, Jr.; two brothers, Wesley Kelton and Tommy Jolly; and two sisters, Geneva Endsley and Martha Greenwall.
Leonard was a truck driver for 49 years, retiring in 1991 from 7-Up.
He was a lifetime Cub fan and an avid bowler.
A celebration of life will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 20, 2016, at TNT’s in Peoria Heights. Cremation rites have been accorded. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
