Obituary for Leo J. Rahn

KICKAPOO – Leo J. Rahn, 79, of Kickapoo, passed away at 7:10 p.m., Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Methodist Medical Center Emergency Room. Leo was born on August 15, 1933 in Peoria to Joseph and Estella (Wissing) Rahn. He married Donna M. Clark on October 6, 1953 in Brimfield. She survives. Also surviving are his children, Linda (Randy) Siegel of Kickapoo, Joseph (Cindy) Rahn of Elmwood, Sharon (Dale) Lynn of Chillicothe, Julie (John) Wieland of Brimfield, and Connie (Steve) Schindler of Laura; nine grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; one brother, Robert Rahn of Kickapoo; and two sisters, Helen Meyer of Bartonville and Mary (Raymond) Stenger of Kickapoo. He was preceded in death by his sons, James and Charles. Leo served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a lifetime farmer and retired from the Peoria County Highway Department. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kickapoo. Leo was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved to visit with friends and neighbors. He also loved to hunt for Indian artifacts and kept busy by mowing on his farm. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kickapoo. Rev. Joseph Dondanville will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Monday, February 18, 2013 at the Parish Hall. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 5 p.m. prior to the visitation in the Parish Hall. An additional visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Kickapoo. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate, St. Mary’s School of Kickapoo, or the Brimfield Fire Department.
