Obituary for Leo Francis Jordan

Peoria-Leo Francis Jordan, age 86, passed away at 12:32 AM on Friday, September 28, 2018 at his residence in Peoria, IL.

Leo was a lifelong resident of Peoria, born August 12, 1932, the son of Leo C. and Helen E. (Dacey) Jordan. He married Joanna H. Davis on August 31, 1957 in Peoria. She survives. Also surviving are their four daughters: Kathleen Jordan Cummins of Bartlett, TN, “Cookie” Carol Jordan of Washington, Barbara (Daniel) Evans of Metamora, and Patricia (Christine Casey) Jordan of Wauconda, IL; one sister, Jean Wahl of West Peoria; eight grandchildren: Katie (Austin) Ortiz, Karen (Ben) Dixon, John (Kristin Locke) Cealey, Jordan (Hannah) Cealey, Erin Cealey, Ellen Cealey, Stephen Cummins, and Michelle (Brian) Kosobucki; and four great-grandchildren.

He graduated with the Class of 1950 from Woodruff High School. Leo proudly served as a Staff Sergeant with the 16th Communication Construction Squadron in the US Air Force from 1952-1955 during the Korean Conflict. He returned to Peoria and graduated from Bradley University in 1964 with a B.S. in Economics. After 50 years of dedication to Burklund Distributing, he retired in 1999 as Executive Vice-President.

Leo was a founding member of The Friends of Clonmel. His mission since 1999 was to let everyone learn about Peoria’s Sister City relationship with friends in Clonmel, Ireland. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Third Degree Spalding Council #427, St. Patrick’s Society, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and former member of St. Bernard Catholic Church.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Monday, October 1, 2018 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, October 2, 2018 with a half hour prior visitation. Fr. Thomas Taylor will officiate. Cremation Rites have been accorded and burial of ashes with military honors will take place in St. Mary Cemetery in West Peoria.
