Obituaries
PEORIA - Leo A. Delinski, 84, of Peoria passed away at 8:42 a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2016, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
Son of the late Stanley and Michalina Delinski, Leo was born June 19, 1932, in Omaha, Neb. He attended St. Joseph's School in Peoria and graduated from Spalding Institute in 1950. He married Bonnie Mae Barrett in August 1952; and they had four sons, Doug, Tim, Greg, and Steve. Mrs. Bonnie Delinski preceded him in death on May 24, 1983. He later married Judith Magiera Clark on May 28, 1988.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; seven children, Doug (Dianna), Tim, Greg (Teresa), Steve (Jill), Susan (Jim) David, Patricia (Mark) Pecot, and Michael (Nicole) Clark; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two more greats on the way.
Leo served in the United States Air Force from 1952-1972 and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. Upon retirement from the military, Leo served as director of the Robertson Memorial Fieldhouse at Bradley University until his retirement in 1992.
He was an active member of St. Mark Catholic Church and, most recently, a member of Holy Family both in Peoria.
Leo was a member of the Knight of Columbus, Spalding Assembly #206, Fourth Degree and an active member of the Order of Alhambra. He was an avid bowler, participating in several leagues. He also enjoyed working with model trains and other miniatures and worked at Mike's Mainline Hobby after leaving Bradley.
As a result of his gregarious personality and generous spirit, he was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Holy Family Parish. Franciscan Friars will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2016, at Wright & Salmon Mortuary in Peoria, with recitation of the Rosary at 6:45 p.m. An additional visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Cremation rites will be accorded following the Mass and entombment of ashes will be in Resurrection mausoleum at a later date.
