Obituary for Lawrence G. "Larry" Zarley
Lawrence G. “Larry” Zarley, 79, of Dunlap, passed away at 5:05 AM on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at his home.
Born August 13, 1942, in Peoria, to Robert D. and Vivian (Berger) Zarley, he married Marie Grogg on May 11, 1963 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Peoria Heights. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Angie (John) Ardis of Naperville, Susie (Rob) Hansen of Plainfield and Alicia (Dave) Heinzmann of Oak Park; seven grandchildren, Lexi Ardis, Emily Ardis, Ben Ardis, Lanie Hansen, Sam Hansen, Francis Heinzmann and Andrew Heinzmann; and three brothers, Ken Zarley of Palmdale, California, Ron Zarley of Peoria and Jim Zarley of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Robert D. and Vivian Zarley, and two brothers, Bob Zarley and Jerry Zarley.
Larry worked at Cilco for over 33 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of St. Thomas Church in Peoria Heights, where he was active in the WATCH program. He was a member of Cursillo, Teens Encounter Christ (TEC) and the prison ministry.
Visitation for Larry will be at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at St. Thomas Church with Funeral Mass following at 10:30 AM. Monsignor Jason Gray will officiate. Cremation Rites will be accorded following services. Entombment of ashes will be at a later date at Resurrection Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Sisters of St. Francis of the Immaculate Conception, 2408 W Heading Ave, West Peoria, IL 61604.
