Obituary for LaVerne J. Wickert

LaVerne J. Wickert 87, of Peoria passed away at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday August 15, 2009 at her residence. Born March 1, 1922 in Oshkosh, WI to Joseph and Martha Stenzel Kuske. She married Kenneth J. “Jack” Wickert on September 2, 1950 in Peoria. He died August 16, 2006 in Peoria Heights. She was preceded in death by one sister Harriet Hanneman. Surviving are one daughter Patty (Tim) Shoff of Washington, IL, Two sons; Kenneth (Carol) Wickert of Peoria and David (Peggy) Wickert of Pekin, Seven grandchildren and two sisters Rosemarie Behlman and Nancy (John) Salzer both of Oshkosh, WI. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. We take this time to say goodbye to our beautiful, caring and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She has taught us what it means to be genuine, fair, tolerant and respectful. She taught us how to love God, ourselves and others with a true and giving heart and the highest integrity. She leaves us to join our Heavenly Father and her husband Jack whom she dedicated 56 years of her life to love and serve. She will be greatly missed but proud to know that her legacy will live on in her children and grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday August 20, 2009 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Msgr. Jason Gray officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. Further visitation will be 30 minutes before services at the church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to
