Obituary for Kathryn Mary LaHood Williams
Kathryn Mary LaHood Williams, 90, of Peoria, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2022. Kathryn was born on January 31, 1932 in Peoria, to Harry M. and Cecilia M. Couri LaHood. She was Baptized and Confirmed on May 1, 1932 at St. Anthony the Hermit Maronite Catholic Church in St. Louis, Missouri by Rev. J. Stephan. Her Confirmation name is Ann. She received her First Holy Communion on May 7, 1939 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Peoria, IL. She married Carl Michael Williams on April 2, 1951 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Peoria.
Her Vocation was to be a wife and Mother. She and Carl are the parents of seventeen children, nine sons and eight daughters, Jerry (Helen), Dr. Michael (Mary Jo), Mary Kathryn (Joel) Hersemann, Theresa (Mark) Debonis, Harry (deceased) (Georgette), Colleen (Bill) Brannan, Cecilia George, Carl (Debbie), John (Julie), Dr. Peter (Chantel), Anna Maria (Peter) Jude, Stephen, Rosemary (Joe) Abraham, Mark (Barbara), Kathryn Mary (deceased), Elizabeth (Eric) Wilson, and Anthony.
Kathryn is also the grandmother of sixty-nine grandchildren, great- grandmother of eighty children, and great-great-grandmother of two children. All her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great- grandchildren were a constant source of joy, gratitude, love, and pride. She also has many Godchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She has three brothers, Harry M. (deceased), Edward A., and Richard J. LaHood and two sisters, Mary Ann Penn and Joy Annette Tonsor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Cecilia, one daughter, Kathryn Mary, one son, Harry Mark, two grandsons, William Mrad Brannan and Joseph Michael Hersemann, and two great grandsons, T.J. Hersemann and Benjamin John Williams.
She was the co-founder of the Queen of Peace Crusade in 1964. Her life and her spiritual mission are revealed in the book that she wrote, “Mary, My Mother and Queen - A Testimony, a Tribute, and an Invitation.”
She consecrated her life to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. She was a Third Order Carmelite and took the name Teresa De Montfort. She was a member of St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Church and St. Mark Catholic Church in Peoria.
Visitation will be Friday, September 2, 2022 from 4p.m. to 8p.m., with recitation of the rosary at 7p.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church, Peoria. A funeral Mass will be held at 11a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at St Mark Catholic Church with additional visitation from10a.m. to 11a.m. Father Bill Miller will officiate, and burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
