Obituary for Kathryn M. Berres
Kathryn M. Berres, age 79, of Peoria, IL., passed away Friday June 30, 2017 at 11:05 PM at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home with her husband by her side.
She was born October 5, 1937 in Peoria, only daughter of Herb and Merton (Ellis) Wiedinger. Kay married Paul E. Berres on June 1, 1957 at St. Cecelia Church in Peoria. Kay is survived by her husband of 60 years and 3 sons, Paul Jr.(Maggie), Peter(Jody), and Patrick(Tricia) all of Peoria. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Ruth, Jack, Clare, Lucy, Kayla, Max, and Emily.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Kay graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Nauvoo, IL. Kay worked in the retail business many years in Peoria. She most enjoyed working at Underwood's Furniture Galleries as assistant in floral arrangements. Living in Peoria her whole life, she and Paul enjoyed boating on the Illinois River for over 50 years. After retiring Kay and Paul spent winters in Florida. During those years the pair travelled extensively in Paul's favorite Motor coach.
Kay started a domino club 12 years ago and was known as Domino Diva. Her pride and joy were her 3 sons and all her grandchildren. Over the years she enjoyed being outdoors, a pool, a boat, anywhere warm and sunny.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Funeral Mass begins at 10:30 a.m. Friday July 7, 2017 at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Peoria. A visitation will be a half hour before Mass. Father James Pallardy will officiate and burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in West Peoria.
