Obituary for Katherine Moon

PEORIA Katherine Moon, 72, of Peoria passed away at 9:47 a.m. Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Heartland Manor Care, surrounded by her loved ones. Katherine was born on Nov. 30, 1942, in Chicago to the late Edward and Virginia (Rice) Connolly. She is survived by two children, Michael (Harriet) Moon and Kathleen (Harry) Watts both of Dunlap; three granddaughters, Molly Moon, Sydney Watts, and Julia Watts; two sisters, Joan (Robert) Notter of Florida and Mary Ellen (Gordon Henry) Connolly of Minneapolis, Minn.; two nephews, Dan (Haley) Notter and Bob (Amy) Notter; two nieces, Kerry (Dustin) Schmidgall and Megan Connolly; and several other nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Katherine grew up in Glenview, Ill., attending Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Regina Dominican High School in Wilmette, Ill. She was a 1964 graduate of Marycrest College, where she met her former husband, Dr. G. Rodger Moon. She was an avid reader. She loved doing crossword puzzles and enjoyed reading many newspapers. The family would like to thank the staff at Heartland Manor Care for the loving support given to Katherine. A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2015, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Father Dustin Schultz will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Cremation rites will be accorded following the Mass and burial of ashes will be in Calvary Cemetery in Chicago at a later date. Wright Salmon Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
