Obituary for Karen S. Helton
Peoria- Karen S. Helton, 71, of Peoria, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 3:39 A.M. at Unity Point Methodist Medical Center.
Born January 10, 1946, in Peoria, to John and Adeline Wessel Rezac, she married Ralph “Lonny” Helton on October 12, 1973 in Peoria. He passed away May 5, 2009 in Peoria.
She is survived by her step-daughter, Sheila Gail McDonnell of Hadley, MI.; step-granddaughter, Amanda (Kevin) Orr; step-great-grandson, Grady Orr; two brothers, Jim (Mary) Rezac of Huntsville, AL., and Frank (Paula) Rezac of Peoria; one sister, Kathleen Carolan of Peoria; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Karen worked as the Office Manager at Parkway Chrysler Plymouth for 40 years, and later worked at Clifton Gunderson, and last cooking for the Priests of St. Thomas Church.
She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and was very active in it’s Women’s Guild and for 25 years ran the plant sale at the church. Karen was also a member of The Catholic Women’s League. She loved her Catholic faith. In 2012, she traveled to Fatima and Lourdes, and in 2016, the Vatican. She graduated in 1964 from The Academy of Our Lady, and enjoyed keeping in contact with her classmates.
A visitation will be on Friday, September 8, 2017, from 5 to 7 P.M. at Wright & Salmon Mortuary, with recitation of the Rosary at 7 P.M. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 9, 2017 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, with an hour prior visitation also at the Church. Msgr. Jason Gray will officiate. Burial will follow in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
