Obituary for Karen L. Carr
Peoria- Karen L. Carr, age 72, passed away 7:20 AM, Monday, November 13, 2017 at Heartland Healthcare.
Karen was born January 16, 1945 in Peoria, a daughter of Aden and LuWanna (Jonas) Zinser. She married John P. Carr June 27, 1970 in Peoria, and they were happily married for 45 years before he passed away October 11, 2015. Her parents also preceded her in death.
Karen is survived by two daughters; Christine (Richard) Rubsam of Thomasville, N.C., and Patricia (Michael) Rathje of Cedar Rapids, IA, one son, John “Eddie” Carr of Peoria, two grandchildren Elizabeth and Heather, two sisters; Sandra Bell and Linda Zinser, both of Peoria, and one brother, Gary Zinser of Hanna City.
Karen loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and spending time outside tending to her flowers. She had a love for sewing, quilting, embroidery and antiquing. Karen was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church with a one hour prior visitation also at her church. Fr. Alexander Millar will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria.
Memorials in Karen’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
