Obituary for June E. Simmons

MORTON-Mrs. June E. Simmons, 44 of Morton, IL passed away on Thursday, August 2nd, 2007 at the University of Chicago Hospital after a courageous battle with leukemia. She was born on December 9, 1962 in Sterling, IL to John and Barbara Ellett Schutz. She married her high school sweetheart, Aaron Simmons on August 13, 1983. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Aaron and two children, Stacy and Austin Simmons both at home. She is now reunited with her son, Sean, who passed away 15 years ago. Other survivors include her parents, John and Ruth Schutz of Florida and Barbara and Real Houle of Sterling, IL; her sister, Jan (Mike) Devine of Rock Falls, IL; her brother, Mike Schutz of Tennessee and loving nieces and nephews. In all the places she lived, June was always blessed with good friends. June always said ‘my friends are my family”. And she leaves behind a big family. She worked for the Social Security Administration until becoming a full time mother, Girl Scout leader, school/church volunteer, volleyball coach, basketball scheduler and office manager in her husband’s business. If anyone needed something organized and completed-they went to June. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton, where a Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 7th with Rev. Mark DeSutter officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, August 6th at the church with a Scripture Service at 7:45 p.m. Cremation rites will be accorded. Wright & Salmon Mortuary in Peoria in charge of arrangements. Everyone is invited to the Knights of Columbus Hall, 616 W. David St., Morton, IL following church services for lunch and remembrance.
