Obituary for Julius Heinz Crocker

PEORIA - Julius Heinz Crocker, 72, of Peoria passed away on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015, at Buehler Home, lifted by prayers and the love of his family and friends. Julius was born on May 20, 1942, in Chicago to Julius R. and Lucille (Heinz) Crocker. He married his beloved, Mary Kay Murray, on August 21, 1965. He was preceded in death by his son, Julius M. Crocker, and his parents. Julius is survived by Mary Kay, his wife of nearly 50 years; his daughters, Elizabeth Knight (children, Sarah, Alec, Liam & Katie), Jennifer (Pat) McKeown (children, Moira, Declan, David, Gwen & Clare), and Catherine (Ray) Heller (children, Tim, Kevin & Annie); his sister, Mary Ann (Jim) Uhll and her children, Jim, Julie, John & Jackie and their families. Julius graduated from Spalding Institute and St. Ambrose University. He was a dedicated CPA who was not your “typical” numbers guy. Many clients became family and were fortunate to share in his humor, caring and deep faith, which was fed by the rich Cursillo community where he played and prayed. Friendships were integral to Julius’ life. With a mischievous smile, twinkle in his eye and a deep sense of faith & responsibility, he led his family by example. He celebrated his deep love for his wife and family with regular vacation get-a-ways that everyone looked forward to. His family saw him most content when holding Mary Kay’s hand and watching all of his grandkids interact. A memorial Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Father James Pallardy will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at Wright & Salmon Mortuary, with a scripture service at 7 p.m. An additional visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Mass will be followed by a celebration at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Cremation rites have been accorded. A private burial of cremains will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to
