Obituary for Julia Elias
Peoria- Julia Elias, age 81, of Peoria, passed away at 9:45 AM on Monday, March 27, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Born October 08, 1935 in Itoo, Lebanon she was a daughter to Budwa and Akla Slyman Sous. On October 17, 1961 she married Steve A. "Fred" Elias in Itoo, Lebanon. He preceded her in death on February 23, 2015. Julia was also preceded in death by her parents, and three sisters, Martha Maroon, Jamileh Younes, and Antoinette Moses.
Survivors include three children, Joe Elias of Dunlap and his children Jake and Shelby, Samia (Mike) Mosher of Washington, Illinois and their children Jared and Briana, and Freddy (Kerry) Elias of Chillicothe and their children Gabbi, Niko, and Abby; as well as, two brothers, Lahoud (Souad) Sous of Peoria and Joe (Judy) Sous of Florida; and one sister Marie Simpson of Peoria.
Julia was a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church, and had a true passion for praying. She had a heart for helping others while she was in business. Julia and Fred owned Joes’ Jeep Tap for 51 years and were known to take many people off the streets feeding and taking care of them. She will be remembered for her love of cooking and baking Lebanese bread. Julia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017 between the hours of 4:00 PM till 7:00 PM at St. Sharbel Catholic Church with a recitation of the rosary taking place at 6:45 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Sharbel Catholic Church with an additional visitation 30 minutes prior to time of mass. Father Bechara Awada will officiate and burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria.
Memorials in Julia’s memory may be made to St. Philomena Catholic Church or to Itoo Needy Families.
