Obituary for Josephine T. DeVriese
Josephine T. DeVriese, 89, of Peoria, passed away at 5:50 PM on Thursday, April 7, 2022.
Jo was born in Peoria, IL on July 9, 1932, a daughter of John P. and Theresa (Steger) Gorman. She married the late Donald L. DeVriese on October 21, 1950. Jo was richly blessed with spending almost 60 years with the love of her life before he passed away on September 21, 2009.
Jo is survived by 3 children, Camillia J. (Don) Pioletti of Goodfield, Darren M. DeVriese of Huntersville, NC. and Matthew L. (Fay) DeVriese of Oakland, MI: 7 grandchildren, Joseph C (Nicole) Pioletti of Eureka, Michela K. (Michael) Nichols of Bloomington, Matthew S. (Erin) Pioletti of Goodfield, Jessica L. S. DeVriese of Midland, MI., Emily M.S. (Zachary) DeVriese Hoiles of Vicenza, Italy, Ashley Josephine DeVriese of Oakland, MI., and Johann D. DeVriese of St. Cloud, MN;Â 5 great grandchildren, Benjamin Camiel Pioletti, Amelia Elise Pioletti, Elias James Pioletti, Nora Jo Nichols and Lillian Kristine Nichols; one sister Lucille Augsburger and one brother Robert Gorman.
She was proceeded in death by one son Todd J. DeVriese, grandson Adam M. Pioletti, 3 brothers John Gorman, Edward Gorman, Frank Gorman, 4 sisters Rosemary Wagenaar, Kathryn Zipper, B. Jean Broughton and Marcella Frank.
She was a member of Holy Family Church. She retired as an office manager at Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
Her family is very grateful for the excellent care she received from Independence Village especially Juliana Jordan and the dedicated team of caregivers at Care Solutions. They enabled her to remain at her home.
Jo was a devoted and selfless wife and mother. Jo was immensely proud of her children. She loved and cherished her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Overnights at grandma and grandpas were a special treat. She will be remembered for her warmth, laughter and kind spirit. She had a beautiful smile. Her generous hugs and kisses will be deeply missed.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service for family and friends will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in West Peoria on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.
