Peoria—Josephine Comfort, of Peoria, passed away at O.S.F. St. Joseph Hospital in Bloomington, IL at 11:40 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012 surrounded by her family. Josephine was born in Dale, North Dakota, the daughter of George and Anna (Williams) Abraham. She married James D. Comfort on April 14, 1952, in Peoria. Jim passed away March 28, 1998 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. Josephine is survived by one daughter, Mary (Howard ) Thomas of Peoria; three sons, James (Julie) Comfort II of Peoria, Timothy G. Comfort of Peoria, and Gregory J. Comfort of Bloomington, IL; ten grandchildren, Jim, Drake, Caitlin, and Dominic Comfort, Deanna Venzon, Kristen and Nick Comfort, and Vince, Elise, and Mary Thomas; and three great-grandchildren, Maddie, Reid, and Lydia Venzon. Josephine and her husband Jim were former owners of Jim’s Steak House in Peoria, retiring in 1987. She was a former member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and its Mothers Club. A Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Peoria Heights. Msgr. William Watson will officiate. Visitation will from 9:30 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Entombment will be at Resurrection Mausoleum.
