Obituary for Joseph C. Rafool
Joseph C. Rafool passed away peacefully at 6:01am on Friday, October 28, 2022 at St. Francis of the Woods in Peoria, IL, where he resided for several years.
Joey was born on January 24, 1951 in Peoria. He was the son of Joseph E. Rafool and Elizabeth Shady Rafool. His parents preceded him in death, as well as his brother Michael.
Joey is survived by his brother Thomas J. Rafool of Noblesville, Indiana, sister Teresa A. Rafool of Chicago, Illinois and sister Barbara J. Patterson of Peoria, Illinois. He is also survived by his nieces Kimberly (Scott) Byrd, Deborah Patterson, Dina (Pat) Hartman and his nephew Rob (Heather) Rafool as well as several great nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joey attended Park Ridge Military Academy in Park Ridge, Illinois. He was his dad’s right-hand man helping him at Associated Realty for most of his life. When his parents passed away he worked at The Community Workshop. He loved listening to country music on the radio and watching western movies. Despite the multiple challenges that he faced, Joey never complained and only knew love for everyone he ever met.
Joey, his sister Barb and his Dad worked next door to all four Armed Forces for 20 years. Joey did all their mailings and printing for free. They gave Joey a plaque from all the Armed Forces for serving his country. It was a special honor in Joey's behalf. He was such a special child, our “Joey Boy.”
Joey was head usher at St. Philomena Catholic Church, following in his father’s footsteps.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 morning at 9:00 am at St. Philomena’s Church with Funeral Mass following at 10:00 AM. Fr. David Richardson will officiate and burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in West Peoria. Services will be live-streamed at stphils.com, click on the youtube link.
