Obituary for John W. Scott

PEORIA-John W. “Jack” Scott, 87 of Mountain Home, Texas and formerly of Peoria, Illinois passed away at 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at his residence. Born on December 27, 1919 in Peoria to Charles and Margaret Finn Scott. He married Mary Dorich Miller on July 27, 1963 in Peoria. She passed away on March 22, 1987 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by 2 sisters and 5 brothers. John was a Machine Operator at Caterpillar, Inc., last working as an Inspector in 1985. He was also a World War II Army and Navy veteran. John attended St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Heights and Notre Dame Catholic Church in Kerrville and was a member of Knights of Columbus #427 Third Degree Spalding Council. John was a wonderful husband and dad, but most of all, he was a great grandfather. He was full of life, a great storyteller and a fantastic dancer. Surviving are one daughter, Cheryl Scott (Steve Andrews) of Mountain Home, TX; one son, Roger (Linda) Miller of Metamora; six grandchildren, Keith Miller, Lysa (Mark) Scheirer, Brandon (Joy) Miller, Shannon Miller Garrett Nelson and Marci (Ray) Sholz; and 9 great-grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 20, 2007 at Wright & Salmon Mortuary with Msgr. William Watson officiating. Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday at the mortuary. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria. Military rites will be accorded. Memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics.
