Obituaries
Peoria- John Samuel Huber, age 79, of Peoria, passed away peacefully at 3:15 AM on Thursday, May 11, 2023.
Born June 2, 1943, in St. Louis, MO, John was raised in Peoria and graduated from Peoria High School in 1962. On July 22, 1972, he married Sheila Malloy Huber in Peoria and together they cherished 50 years of marriage together.
John honorably served in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1968, and had the honor to participate in the June 2022 Peoria Honor Flight. John’s ultimate passion was model railroading and photography and had the honor of being published in multiple train publications. Most importantly he cherished his family and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His presence will be deeply missed.
Surviving are wife Shelia of Peoria, son John (Sheila) of Peoria, daughter Sarah (Jake) of Greenfield, WI, son Michael (Heather) of Peoria, 7 grandchildren Bridey, Maura, Kilian, Ryanne, Katy, Emmett and Dylan, as well as his sisters Mary Ann Hanelt (Peter) and Ruth Huber and nephew, Matt of California.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Marguerite (Owens) Huber and Henry Huber and nephew Jeff Hanelt.
The Huber family would like to thank the staff at OSF Healthcare in Peoria and Heritage Home in Chillicothe, IL for their exemplary care and loving support.
A Visitation will be from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM at Mt. Hawley Country Club (7724 N. Knoxville Ave. Peoria IL 61614) on Wednesday May 17, 2023. Celebration of John’s life will follow at 5:00 PM.
Cremation Rites have been accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in John’s memory may be made to the Peoria Honor Flight or St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.
