PEORIA-John G. “Jack” Waugh, 80 of Peoria, passed away at 1:22 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at Methodist Medical Center. Born April 23, 1926 in Peoria to James and Dorothy Tippett Waugh. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of over 50 years, Mary Powell, one son, John (Lea Ann) Waugh of Normal, IL; two daughters, Susan Sprague of Las Vegas, NV and Lynn (Rusty) Stephens of Peoria; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister and one brother. He was a World War II and Korean War Army veteran. He retired after 40 years with Caterpillar, Inc. at the Cat Tech Center. His family always came first, followed by his love of golf and fishing. His fishing skills earned him the nickname of “Walleye Jack”. His love of golf prompted he and his wife to move to a golf community in Florida, where they resided for 20 years. A Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church with Franciscan Friars officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Cremation rites will be accorded. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Burial of ashes will be at a later date.
