Obituary for John C. Jackson

PEORIA-John C. Jackson, 65, of Peoria, passed away at 8:35 a.m. on Sunday, July 25, 2010, at Lutheran Hillside Village. John was born on June 21, 1945, in Peoria, to John L. and Gertrude Koch Jackson. He married Mary Lou Foose on November 29, 1975, in Oswego, IL, and was very happily married for 34 years. John was preceded in death by his father, John L. Jackson in 1981. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Mary Lou; his children, Jonathon of Peoria, Eric of Oswego, Christopher of Peoria and Joel of Oswego; his mother, Gertrude of Washington, IL; his siblings, Jackie Hines of Gold Canyon, AZ, Larry (Annette)Jackson of Rockdale, TX, Mary Frazier of Franklin, TN, Betty (Dan) Ekstrand of Peoria, Paul (Patty) Jackson of Washington, IL and Ben (Karen) Jackson of Metamora; his grandson, Bricen of Washburn; and many extended family and friends. John grew up in Washington, IL and graduated from Washington High School in 1963. He entered the Air Force in 1965 and was employed at Caterpillar, Inc. for 38 years, retiring in 2001. John was a loving husband and father, who enjoyed his winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama. He also enjoyed traveling, golfing and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal’s fan. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church where a Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2010 with Msgr. Paul Showalter officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Wright & Salmon Mortuary and 30 minutes before the Mass at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to www.wrightandsalmon.com
