Obituary for John C. Hinkle
PEORIA – John C. Hinkle, 62, of Peoria passed away at 3:23 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.
John was born on June 24, 1954, in Peoria to the late Ronald C. and Helen (Baker) Hinkle.
He is survived by two sons, John Hinkle and Joe Hinkle both of Peoria; two stepdaughters, Sandy Moffitt of Peoria and Kim Sisk of Chillicothe; one brother, Jim (Karen) Hinkle of Edelstein; two sisters, Monica (Larry) Probst of Washington, Ill., and Rhonda (Michael) Sample of Peoria; eight grandchildren, Angel Schumacher, Shyanne Sisk, Bo and Bobby Moffitt, Isaiah Ghantous, and Devin, Brynn, and Kaybree Hinkle; one great-grandson, Kyler Beavers; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by twin granddaughters, Joslynn and Amiyiah Hinkle.
John was part of the automotive world for many years, last working as an assistant manager at O’Reilly in Peoria.
He bowled in the American Legion League at Landmark for over 30 years and was an avid fisherman and member of Bass Pro. He also loved NASCAR and raced at Peoria Speedway in the 1980s.
John was loved by many and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for them. He will be truly missed.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, at Wright & Salmon Mortuary. Visitation will be from from 4 to 6:30 p.m. prior to the service at the mortuary. The family invites friends and family to join them for drinks and fellowship at the Landmark Bullpen following the service.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
