Obituary for Joetta Murphy

PEORIA - Joetta M. Murphy, 82, of Peoria passed away at 11:06 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, at her daughters home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Feb. 12, 1933, in Peoria to Joseph and Mildred Rouland (Cummings) Dunne. She married Donald T. Murphy, Sr. on Feb. 26, 1952, in Peoria. He passed away on May 26, 2015, in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her son, Kevin Murphy; grandson, Matthew Engelbrecht; her brother, Joel Dunne; and her niece, Kim Doyle.

Joetta retired from Illinois Bell and worked at Bergners for 12 years until February of 2015. She is survived by her children, Karen (Doug) Engelbrecht of Peoria and their children, Michelle Jancich and Jeff Engelbrecht, Debra Murphy of Peoria, Don Jr. (Denise) Murphy of Dunlap and their children, Ben and Pat Murphy, Dennis (Shelley) Murphy of Peoria and their children, Brooke (Derrick) Hosetter, Samantha Murphy, and Molly (Josh) Carr, Timothy Murphy of Chicago, Molly Hahn of Suffern, N.Y., and her children, Courtney Cramer, Ethan Cramer, Avery Cramer, and Andrew Hahn, Melissa (Gerald) Suelter of Peoria and their children, Makayla and Meghan Suelter; great-grandchildren, Everett and Harper Jancich, Oliver Hosetter, Gavin, Max, Liam, and Maci Carr; her sister, Jolene (Tim) Doyle of Peoria; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was an avid golfer and was a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Red Hat Society and St. Jude Catholic Church. A funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 4, 2016, at St. Jude Church. Fr. Patrick Henehan will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society. Tributes and condolences may be submitted to
