Obituary for Joanne S. Dixon-Folck
Peoria- Joanne S. Dixon-Folck, age 93, passed away at 2:05 PM, Monday, February 12, 2018 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
Joanne was born August 30, 1924 in Peoria, IL., a daughter of James A. “Bert” and Kernie (De La Tour) Strawn. She married John N. Dixon on June 14, 1946. He preceded her in death on October 21, 1994 in Peoria. She later married James L. Folck in Charleston, SC. He passed away November 2, 2009 in Peoria.
Joanne is survived by one son, James N. Dixon of Peoria and one daughter, Nancy “Nance” (Marlan) Reynolds of Creve Coeur, IL., two granddaughters, Lisa Ann Dixon of Peoria and Kara Reynolds Powers of Creve Coeur, and four great-grandchildren, Zachary Wilson, Brooke “Dolly” Wilson and C.J. and Alex Seaman. She was preceded in death by one brother, Max Strawn.
Joanne graduated from Peoria High School in 1942. She attended Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL., and graduated from Bradley University in 1946. She was a longtime volunteer at Methodist Medical Center and the American Red Cross. She was a former member of Mt. Hawley Country Club and Chi Omega Alumnae. She had a life-long interest in farming and was a member of the Woodford County Historical Society and the Peoria Historical Society.
Joanne was a 50 year member of First Federated Church in Peoria, where she served as a deacon. While spending many winters in DeLand, FL., she attended the Glenwood Presbyterian Church.

Cremation rites have been accorded and private family services will be held at a later date in the Columbarium at First Federated Church. Rev. Dr. Forrest Krummel will officiate.
