She is survived by her husband, Stephen; her children, Carla (Dean) Omernick of Burnsville, MN, Vicki (John) Hoelscher and Stephen (Jennifer) Lawler, both of Peoria, and Thomas (Lore) Lawler of Munster, IN; her grandchildren, Jason (Amy) Kelvie of Lakeville, MN, Christopher Kelvie of Burnsville, MN, Adam Hoelscher of Seattle, WA, Shawn Hoelscher of Peoria, Eric Lawler of Atlanta, GA, Lauren (Patrick) McCoole of St. Louis, MO, Alyssa Lawler of Champaign, IL, Breanne Lawler and Jeff Lawler of Munster, IN. JoAnn also is survived by her great-grandchildren Mitchell, Brandon, and Sycora Kelvie, all of Lakeville, MN, and one brother Bob (Claudia) Irvin, of Washington, IL. After moving to Peoria, she met and married Steve, and raised her children. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church where she volunteered in many school and church activities. JoAnn worked at Bergners-Sheridan Village for 26 Years, many as supervisor of the “Miss B” department. Upon her retirement, she spent 19 winters in Venice, FL with her husband. She loved being with her children and grandchildren, playing cards and games, or baking her famous pies and Texas cake, and was always present cheering them on at their various sporting events. Most importantly, she taught her family by example, putting faith and family first, always showing kindness and respect to others. Her constant smile was contagious. The family would like to especially thank JoAnn’s caregiver, Julie, for her loving attention, and the staff of OSF Hospice for their guidance and compassion. Her funeral Mass will be at 11 AM, Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Holy Family Catholic Church with Franciscan Friars officiating. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 PM, Friday, at Wright & Salmon Mortuary and 30 minutes prior to the Mass at church on Saturday.
